Birds and Worms

We certainly are in the lucky country when it comes to the amount of Birds we can have!

A popular species in the hobby are finches and for more experienced keepers, insectivorous birds such as king fishers and flycatchers.

Mealworms are a regular staple for this part of the hobby. When preparing for breeding or feeding young, the most popular insects are small mealworms and medium crickets.

Treats for chooks! We estimate that over 400,000 of our 1,000,000 mealworms produced each week, are feed to chooks as treats. Keeping chooks especially in suburban areas has become quite a growth area of the pet industry.

Mealworms not only are a great source of nutrition, they aid in the overwintering conditioning of birds and help prepare them for breeding. Feeding during the breeding season will increase breeding colour, the strength of feathers and egg shell walls.

Our mealworms are nutritionally superior to those on the market, and have more than double the protein levels! Take a look for yourself below.
